LIDW 2024 - Litigation Boutiques in London and New York: 15 Years On

CANDEY together with leading New York firms Chaffetz Lindsay and Sher Tremonte joined forces for a talk during London International Disputes Week on the 15th anniversary of the 3 firms’ foundation in 2009.

The panellists Ashkhan Candey, Justin Sher, Gretta Walters and Ellen-Louise Moens, chaired by Alex Cook KC of 4 Stone Buildings, considered topical issues for litigation boutiques and their strategies for global expansion. Chief among the issues were the extent to which firms could undertake contingency fee agreements and maintain growth, without finance from litigation funders; and the extent to which boutiques could serve their clients’ best interests through closer international collaboration between them. Whilst all 3 firms embraced working alongside much larger firms, there was agreement in relation to the importance of culture and personal development within boutiques, where the quality of work and close relationships with colleagues and co-workers was paramount to staff wellbeing, leadership and client success.
