Kathleen Taylor - US Attorney & Pupil Barrister
Kathleen is a US attorney licensed in California, where she ran a private practice prior to joining CANDEY. She has a broad range of experience in international law, commercial law, human rights and humanitarian law.
She has previously worked in humanitarian policy for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in New York where she facilitated intergovernmental negotiations and processes related to the adoption of international humanitarian law and policy. Before that, she worked for SAG-AFTRA in Los Angeles where she was involved in the contractual regulation of multi-million-dollar film projects on behalf of union members.
Born in South Africa, Kathleen obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Science and an LLB Law degree from the University of Cape Town (UCT), where she was placed on the Dean’s List for academic excellence. Kathleen then obtained her Master’s degree in Law (LLM) specializing in International Law from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she was Class President, Head of the International Justice Program, and received the Masin Award for Contract Law. She also holds two first class Master’s degrees - one from New York University (NYU) and one from Nagoya University School of Commerce and Business (NUCB) in Japan, where she placed first in her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) class and was awarded the Frontier Scholar Award.
Kathleen is currently in the process of becoming dual-qualified by obtaining an English Law qualification.
