Ilsu Ari - Pupil Barrister

Ilsu completed a BA (Hons) in Law from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, where she was elected a Junior Scholar and was awarded the Lizette Bentwich prize twice. She later pursued an LLM in International Business Law at the LSE (Distinction) and completed the Bar Vocational Studies course specialised in Advanced Advocacy Skills with an LLM at City Law School (Distinction). She is a recipient of the Sir Thomas More Scholarship from Lincoln’s Inn and was called to the Bar in March 2024 (Lincoln’s Inn).

During her time at university, Ilsu participated in international moots such as the 2021 Jessup Competition (quarterfinalist and 15th Best Oralist in Preliminary Rounds). She recently coached the LSE Team for the 2024 Oxford IP Moot.

Prior to joining CANDEY, Ilsu conducted research on the confluence of various areas of law and emerging technologies like blockchain. She completed the Computer Science for Lawyers course of Harvard Law School Executive Education and worked as a Legal AI Analyst for start-up Safe Sign Technologies. She was a copyright consultant for the Cambridge Journal of Law, Politics, and Art, as well as a research assistant at the LSE Law School. She published an article on blockchain and database rights in the Oxford Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice, as well as an article on international taxation in the LSE Law Review.

Ilsu is fluent in both Turkish and French and has basic knowledge of Spanish and German.
