Andrew Cookson - Pupil Barrister

Andrew read for a Master of Laws with Distinction at University College London (UCL) and a Master of Laws in Bar Professional Training at City Law School, University of London. Andrew’s LLM courses at UCL were internationally focused, and included International Commercial Litigation and the Legal Aspects of International Finance.  His specialisms at City Law School were Fraud and Economic Crime, and Commercial Law.

Andrew subsequently read for a Post-Graduate Certificate in International Dispute Resolution at Queen Mary University of London, achieving a Distinction.

Andrew holds a Master of Arts (Honours) in International Relations and Law from The University of Edinburgh, which included a year in Australia at The University of Queensland.  Andrew thereafter completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and a postgraduate Bachelor of Laws at BPP University, London.

Before commencing his legal studies, Andrew studied Intensive Chinese at the Beijing Language and Culture University, and several courses on Chinese business and culture at Fudan University, Shanghai. Andrew is conversationally proficient in Chinese (Mandarin) and Spanish.

Andrew was the winner of the 2023 Middle Temple Young Barristers' Association Advocacy Competition, and a member of Inner Temple’s UK national round winning team of the Telders International Law Moot 2018/19.

Andrew is a member of the Middle Temple’s Young Barrister’s Association, LCIA Young International Arbitration Group, ICCA Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration Group, and the European Association of Private International Law.
